The difficulty I had with making this clay pig was getting all the parts of the pig to stick together. I had to slip and score the some of the body parts a few times to get them to stick. Adding more water after scoring it helped them to stick to the body much easier. I started first the making the body of the pig then I started adding more body parts. The ears were tricky to form to the pigs body then getting the ears to curve and form into ears were more difficult. Everything else was relatively easy to make. I made some lines in the pig to add a hair type affect on it.
The difficulty I had with making my stencil of Mickey Mouse was doing the detail of his body. I wasn't able to figure out how to do the details in the stencil but I was able to cut out the outline of his body correctly. Next time I am going to figure out how to put in details into the stencil and make the stencil look better.
What inspired me by the portal was nature. I wanted to pick something that flowed well and represented natural well at the same time. I figured a crashing wave would fit those categories. I used oil pastel for this because oil pastels blend well which helped the drawing become smoother and flow better. I made this drawing my own by incorporating the darks and lights. I used the black pastel to give detail to the wave and for the inner part of the wave I used grey, black, and purple to try to make it not as bland. If I could do something differently next time I would try to elaborate more on the outside part of the wave. I wouldn't try to make the wave as much solid blue as I did this time.
